We, at MADCAT, pride ourselves that our garments are made to a high standard and fit the real shape of woman today, not the unrealistic teen girl shape as seen in the fashion magazines. The New Zealand woman is beautiful, curvaceous and feminine.

The Madcat label was developed to dress this woman and make her look amazing and feel confident in whatever style she chooses. Our retail team, the women you meet in the boutique, are there to guide you through our selection of styles and colourways. Always ask for help, they are there to serve you, the MADCAT customer.

They may encourage you to try on styles that you may not have considered before. They are trained to give you honest feed back on what works best for your figure and can tell you if alterations need to be made for the garment to complement your figure. There is a right outfit for every person, remember your body is purrrfect and the garments are there to enhance its shape. We cannot guarantee that we stock the garment you are after, for but we can advise you on what to look for.

Services we offer are…

Prompt alteration – The garments are pinned by our trained staff and altered by a local tailor. This is a 24 hour service available Monday to Friday only.

Workshop alteration – The garments are returned to the workshop if the alteration is complex. This is more cost effective for you, as the customer. If you choose this service you will be advised of the timeline, as couriers are subject to delay in winter when bad weather disrupts the Cook Strait ferries. Garments that are collected from the Wellington boutique are not charged a courier fee. If you wish to have the alteration sent directly to your home, then a single charge to cover costs is made as follows…

Garment deliveries to your home or place of work

National fast post $3. This is for a garment that can fit inside a NZ Post plastic pouch A4 size, not expanding the shape to over 2cm thick or 1 kg in weight.

International air post. Your garment is packed into a NZ Post plastic pouch. The cost varies on the weight of the garment and its destination. A corset, for example, will cost $25 to send to England or $14 to send to Australia.

National courier (max size to be the area of a shoe box) City or urban address $5. Rural delivery address $10 We use a national courier service that requires at signature of the person accepting the parcel. These parcels are insured and can be tracked from the MADCAT workshop to your home. This minimises the risk of the garment being lost in transit.

Special make garments

• If the style of garment has sold out in your size or colourway and we have the garment already cut out in the workshop, we can make it for you at no extra cost. A 20% deposit is required. Our retail staff will help you with this choice by asking you to try a garment that is similar in shape and fit. It takes between 1 to 3 weeks.

• If the style of garment you have selected does not fit you well, the workshop will cut the garment with a little more ease, to complement your figure. We will advise on the availability of the fabric and the time it will take to cut out a new garment. The price of this service can vary from $10- $30 dollars depending on the style of the garment and takes between 1 to 3 weeks.

Personal pattern drafting service

If you are unique in your body shape and find that labels including ours does not flatter you, consider having a pattern drafted to your measurements. It is sometimes very difficult to effectively alter complex garments such as trousers and jackets and a made to measure service is the best option. You will be asked to try on a garment nearest to your size and measurements are discreetly taken. The pattern is drafted and a garment is cut and partly made for a final fitting. The pattern is altered at all stages of the garment’s development. It is a one-off charge to make the pattern and further garments taken from the same pattern are available in future seasons at no extra cost. If the garment we are making you is well outside our usual size range, we will charge a 10% additional material fee. We have many satisfied customers that use this service and take advantage of making an appointment with Jill when she travels to Wellington, as she has over 30 years experience as a pattern cutter. This service can take between 2 to 8 weeks.

The charge for this service is $35 - $150 with a 20% deposit is required.
